Auto-stacking

Multi-Drop Orders Guide for Clients

Updated over a week ago

How does it work?

  1. If the same store has multiple orders ready for pick-up by Stuart at the same time, Stuart may assign one courier to deliver these orders stacked together in the same delivery, and each end-customer’s address would be separate drop-off points on this multi-drop journey.

  2. When assigning a courier to a multi-drop delivery, the Stuart platform will evaluate whether the sizes of the orders stacked together would fit in the courier’s vehicle.

  3. If the size of the orders stacked together exceeds the capacity of the courier’s vehicle, or if there are no overlapping orders for pick-up, the packages will be delivered as singles per usual practice.

Do stores need to do anything differently?

No, but please continue to follow the best practices such as:

  • Selecting the correct package size (to learn more: Issues with your item) when creating an order.

  • Labelling each package clearly (to avoid handover mix-ups!)

  • Handing over all relevant packages to the courier per the courier’s request.

The Stuart platform will continue managing your delivery requests efficiently, creating multi-drops only when the opportunity arises.

What are the benefits?

  • Multi-drop deliveries maximise the efficiency of a Stuart courier by increasing utilisation of the fleet and reducing the total distance travelled.

  • The decrease in distance travelled by our courier is in keeping with Stuart’s sustainability target of combating CO2 emissions and our commitment to achieve Net Zero by 2035.

How are multi-drop deliveries priced?

Please reach out to your Stuart account manager, or to clients.uk@stuart.com, if you have questions about multi-drop pricing for your account.

Can I opt out of multi-drop deliveries?

Yes:

  • If you would like to opt-out of the multi-drop delivery setting, please inform our support team and we will make the change within 5 business days.

  • Please keep in mind that if no stacking opportunity is present for your orders (such as no overlapping order pick-ups or the total size exceeds the available vehicle capacity), the Stuart platform will not create the multi-drop itinerary.
